The Milwaukee Brewers were toasting to the entire state of Wisconsin with their victory over the San Diego Padres on Oct. 7. Essentially, the state’s cities were the toast.
Champagne bottles adorned with the names of municipalities around Wisconsin awaited the players in the clubhouse after they finished off a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Padres to secure a four-game series win in the National League Division Series.

It’s an idea that came from the team’s travel coordinator, vice president Dan Larrea, also the creative force behind a flag that travels with the team and also includes the name of every city in Wisconsin.
“We really, in the clubhouse, try to tie ourselves to both to the city of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin,” Larrea said in late September. “We really feel passionate that we’re not just playing for ourselves, but for the fan base that is not just Milwaukee, but it is Wisconsin. And anything we try to do, we try to tie it into the city or the state.”

That theme also permeates the team’s “Wisco” City Connect jerseys that debuted in 2026, with references specifically meant to conjure elements from around the state.
So there’s a little piece of Oak Creek and River Falls and Verona in San Diego tonight. Now the Brewers return to their home state for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday.
