The Boston Celtics have signed former Grand Canyon standout Gabe McGlothan to an Exhibit 10 training camp deal, per recent reporting from Spotrac senior contributor Keith Smith. Per Smith, Boston’s G League Development team, the Maine Celtics, had previously acquired McGlothan’s G League rights via a trade.
McGlothan had gone unselected in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Grand Canyon, signing instead with the Denver Nuggets‘ G League team, the Grand Rapids Gold. He also played for the Noblesville Boom (and briefly signed with but did not play for the Indiana Pacers on a 10-day deal) before the Boom dealt his rights to the Maine Celtics in August.
The Gilbert, Arizona native put up 15.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game with Noblesville, shooting 52.2 percent from the floor overall and 42.3 percent from deep on 4.2 attempts per game.
An undersized power forward at 6-foot-7, McGlothan is unlikely to make Boston’s open two way roster spot as a 27-year-old prospect.
But his unusual player profile could see him use his time in Maine to find a home in another, better-paying league.
