Blackhawk halts Harbor Creek's bid for second PIAA softball final in three years

MEADVILLE — A six-run, seventh-inning comeback was too much for Harbor Creek’s softball team to surmount in its PIAA Class 4A semifinal.

Not that the Huskies weren’t up for the challenge.

Harbor Creek, which only managed one hit and one run against Blackhawk over the first six innings, respectively totaled three and four during its last at-bats. Addison Lucas capped that binge with a two-run home run off the Cougars’ Kylie Prisuta, her pitching counterpart.

Prisuta, though, retired the Huskies’ last two batters. That clinched a 7-5 victory for the WPIAL’s second seeds at Allegheny College’s Robertson Athletic Complex.

Blackhawk, which never competed in a state playoff before this season, will carry a 15-5 record into the state’s 4A final vs. Valley View on June 12. They’ll meet at Penn State University’s softball complex.

Harbor Creek, District 10’s champion, was eliminated at 19-6.

The Huskies sought to appear in their second PIAA championship game in three years. They were the state’s Class 3A titlists for 2024.
