Lucas Bergvall could become an option for clubs in Serie A in January as he struggles for regular minutes at Tottenham, according to Tuttomercatoweb’s Marco Conterio.
The report identifies the Swedish midfielder as a potential winter departure after a quiet start under Roberto De Zerbi. Bergvall has made three Premier League appearances this season, totaling 78 minutes, while Tottenham’s additions of Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes have increased competition in midfield.
Conterio points to Juventus’ need for a player with Bergvall’s qualities and Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici’s familiarity with him from Tottenham. Those connections place Italy among the possible destinations, with the player’s opportunities over the coming weeks likely to shape the discussion.
Any move would come soon after a fresh commitment to Tottenham. The club announced a new contract for Bergvall on September 11, when sporting director Johan Lange described the agreement as a sign of its belief in his long-term role.
De Zerbi also praised his willingness to learn and take responsibility, saying Tottenham wanted to help him reach his full potential. Bergvall spoke positively about the project and said his personal targets included contributing more goals, assists and consistent performances.
There is already a substantial first-team record behind the 20-year-old. He made 45 appearances in his debut campaign after arriving from Djurgården in July 2024, followed by another 33 in 2025-26. His first season included 12 appearances during Tottenham’s successful Europa League campaign, although injury kept him out of the final.
The September renewal makes Tottenham’s assessment of his development central to any January decision. Regular competitive minutes would need to form a convincing part of any proposal from another club, particularly after the public backing he received when signing.
Bergvall is another name to watch in a winter window that could bring changes to Tottenham’s squad. Richarlison has also been linked with a January departure, with Fabrizio Romano expecting the striker to move on.
