The directive follows heavy rainfall and strong winds that have deposited large volumes of debris across city centres and major towns in the state.

This was contained in a statement on Friday by the Technical Adviser on Media to the Governor, Chief Solomon Iorpev.

He said the sanitation exercise will hold between 7 am and 9 am, and all local government chairmen, relevant departments, agencies and enforcement officials are to ensure full compliance without exception.

Chief Iorpev said residents are advised to clean their surroundings, clear drainages and properly dispose of waste within the stipulated time.

He said movement will be restricted during the exercise, except for those on essential duties.

Chief Iorpev said the chairmen and residents of Makurdi, Tarkaa, Gboko, Ushongo and Vandeikya local government areas are to take particular note of this announcement.
