Ben Zobrist will visit Freeport for a community event at Little Cubs Field on Sept. 5 that includes youth activities, a question-and-answer session and opportunities for fans to meet the former Chicago Cubs standout.
The event, called Ben Zobrist Day, is free to attend, according to a community announcement. Activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Little Cubs Field, 1160 W. Empire St. Organizers said Zobrist will discuss his new book and the work of his nonprofit organization, Champion Forward.
Attendees also can enter a sweepstakes for Zobrist’s 2017 Chevy Camaro, which organizers said he received after being named World Series MVP in 2016. Sweepstakes information is available at cfsweepstakes.org.
Gates open at 9 a.m. Organizers asked participants in preregistered activities to arrive 20 minutes before their session for check-in.

Home-run derby activities and autograph sessions require preregistration, according to the announcement.

Champion Forward will also be featured during the event as organizers highlight the nonprofit’s mission, according to the announcement.
