Ben Johnson sounds off on Bears QB Caleb Williams' hamstring injury

Everything that could go wrong did for the Chicago Bears against the Minnesota Vikings, including quarterback Caleb Williams going down on a non-contact injury as he was about to score a touchdown to give Chicago the lead late in the fourth quarter.

While it initially looked like this could be a season-ending injury, such as a torn ACL or Achilles, between Williams’ reaction clearly in pain and how he was carted off the field, head coach Ben Johnson gave an update after the game saying that it is not a knee injury, ruling out a torn ACL. However, he does have a hamstring injury and the Bears will have to see how severe the injury is tomorrow.

“I’m actually happy it’s nothing with the knee. That was my first inclination,” Johnson said. “But yet the hamstring can be pretty damaging as well. We’ll see how bad it is tomorrow and we’ll go from there. But quickly, you got to turn the page.”

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Williams is going to have imaging done on his hamstring on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

If Chicago is lucky and this is a Grade 1 hamstring injury, he may not miss much time.  However, if it is a Grade 3 hamstring injury, Williams could still miss most, if not all, of the rest of the season.  But, given Williams was able to put pressure on his leg after the game, leaving some to believe this is only a Grade 1 or Grade 2.
