Beau Sparks injury update: Texas State football wide receiver out for game vs UTSA

· · 1 min read

Texas State football wide receiver Beau Sparks appears to be out for the I-35 Rivalry against UTSA. A Texas State spokesperson has not responded to a request for comment from the American-Statesman, but Sparks did not participate in warm-up drills and could be seen on the sideline without his pads and helmet.

Sparks caught 84 passes for 1,200 yards in 2025, both program records for Texas State’s football bowl subdivision era. He sat out for most of preseason camp leading up to Week 1. He did play against Texas, recording four receptions for 19 yards.

The Bobcats will lean on wide receivers Chris Dawn Jr., Tucker Cusano and Zechariah Sample in Sparks’ absence, with Kylen Evans being another depth piece. Sparks’ loss is still a huge blow to Texas State’s offense in what is likely the most important game of the non-conference slate.
