Cincinnati Bengals star Dexter Lawrence wrecked the Chicago Bears on Thursday.
The joint practice was the real preseason game between the starters, with the Bengals, at least, confirming most starters won’t see action in the Week 2 preseason game on Saturday.
So, the real preseason game was the Dexter Lawrence show:
Just ask Bears writers.
Kole Noble of A to Z Sports wrote that Lawrence was “easily the most dominant player on the field” and that he “beat double teams, stuffed the run, and controlled the interior all afternoon.”
Adam Jahns of CHGO Sports wrote that “Lawrence was a serious problem.”
Bears Wire’s Alyssa Barbieri added that the “Bears had no answer for Dexter Lawrence, who wreaked havoc along the interior”
There were some minor concerns when the Bengals traded for Lawrence. The huge investment cost of a 10th overall pick was one. But so was his last few seasons of ups and downs and injuries.
In the first official “live game” setting against another opponent, though, it sure sounds like Lawrence is everything the Bengals had hoped he would be for the rebuilding unit.
And if the joint practice is a sign of things to come, Week 1 should be pretty interesting for Lawrence and the Bengals.
