Bayern Munich star Harry Kane not fazed by Lamine Yamal’s comments, won’t self-promote for Ballon d’Or
The war for the Ballon d’Or is heating up, and some contestants are doing everything they can to promote themselves. Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, though, does not seem to be particularly concerned with involving himself in a war of words with his fellow colleagues.
In an interview for Sky Sport’s journalist Kerry Hau (via @iMiaSanMia) after his team’s dismantling of Union Berlin 7-0, Kane gave a few words on the whole situation.
“Ballon d’Or? I don’t really like talking about myself. I focus on my work on the pitch. Everyone has their own opinion on the subject, and that’s okay,” Kane said. “Everyone has the right to express themselves however they want. That’s not up to me. From my point of view, I’m actually enjoying it quite a lot. I’ll just wait and see what happens. I’ll keep doing my thing on the pitch, and then we’ll see what happens.”
When asked if he though Lamine Yamal‘s statements were a dig at him, Kane took the high road.
“I don’t know how he meant it. Yamal is an incredible player. He had a great season, as did many others. (Kylian) Mbappé, Michael (Olise), Rodri. There are many candidates,” Kane noted.
