The Bayern Munich women’s team is back! The FC Bayern Frauen are currently in Japan on their Allianz Women’s Tour. As part of the tour, they will play against Japanese first division side RB Ōmiya Ardija on Saturday for the first friendly of the season.
FCBayern.com has the details and match preview. The Bavarians will be without Giulia Gwinn, Vanessa Gilles, Sarah Zadrazil, Lena Oberdorf, Sophie Proost, and Anna Klink. Additionally, Bernadette Amani is captaining Ivory Coast at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Head coach José Barcala made special mention of Bayern’s Japanese international Momoko Tanikawa in his pre-game comments: “Our visit is making us realize even more why Momoko is such a great person and great player. It’s very enriching to get to know her culture and be here together with her.
“It’s also great to see how welcome we are and how smoothly everything’s going because the people are so helpful. Tomorrow’s friendly against RB Ōmiya Ardija is a very good opportunity for us to keep working on our objectives. We’re looking forward to the match and our first test.”
