It is never easy for fans to see a star player enter the last 12 months of their contract. At the time of writing, however, Bayern Munich’s star striker Harry Kane is down to around the last 10 months of the contract that will keep him in Munich until June 30, 2027. For fans, this is unnerving.
The club’s executives, however, are, as they so emphasize repeatedly very relaxed about the situation. Any and every report has suggested that Kane would love to remain in Munich while Bayern would love to keep him, so both parties were happy to wait until after the World Cup and the Englishman’s vacation to begin talks.
The season has now begun, with Bayern flattening VfB Stuttgart 5-1 in their opening Bundesliga fixture. And so the talks have now finally begun. But the club is not about to start rushing to the finish line. “The chemistry is absolutely there, which is why we’re really relaxed about the whole situation,” Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen explained after the Stuttgart game (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Whether it happens a day earlier or a day later doesn’t really matter.”
It seems like it will happen. When both sides want the same thing, it takes some oversized egos to fail to reach an agreement. But as long as Kane’s signature is missing from the dotted line, it is only natural for Bayern fans to continue to worry.
