Baseball fans baffled after Peacock plays comically loud music through Red Sox-Yankees game

Baseball fans were tuned into Peacock on Tuesday to watch the start of the MLB playoffs.

While they got the baseball action they came for, some also wound up taking part in the weirdest listening party imaginable.

Through roughly half of the top of the fifth inning, those watching the game on Peacock couldn’t help but notice the loud, instrumental outro music playing underneath the audio from the broadcast.

The instrumental track, labeled by many as the genre of “butt rock,” played long enough for people to wonder what the heck was going on. Notably, it appears that the miscue was only featured on Peacock and did not carry over to the broadcast on NBC.

Still, fans who were watching on Peacock were understandably perplexed.

This is hilarious, NBC doesn’t seem able to turn off the generic bumper music from the break in this Yankees/Red Sox game and it makes everything the announcers say sound like a monologue at the end of a WB show for teenagers.

The simplest explanation here that someone accidentally hit the bumper music button without noticing and the jams just kept on jamming until someone finally realized what was going on. This is simultaneously likely someone’s worst day on the job and a delightfully human and harmless mistake to inflict upon thousands of viewers.

The Yankees would go on to defeat the Red Sox 9–0.
