Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is currently leading all players at the 2026 World Cup in one specific statistical category – dribbling.
Youngster Lamine is of course one of the headline names in Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish national team squad in North America for international football’s grandest showcase this summer.
After shaking off an initial fitness complaint, the 18-year-old has since gone on to feature from the off in La Roja’s last four fixtures. This includes a hard-fought victory over Portugal earlier this week, enough to secure for Spain a place in the World Cup’s quarter-finals.
Lamine has actually been singled out for criticism for the level of more than one of his performances, accused of looking some way off his spectacular best.
As alluded to above, though, this has not stopped the young winger from establishing himself as the most successful dribbler at the tournament to date.
As revealed by statisticians Squawka, following the conclusion of the Round-of-16:
‘Lamine Yamal has completed more take-ons than any other player at the 2026 World Cup (17).’
