Barcelona coach expected to make five changes against Levante

Barcelona are looking for their sixth win in six matches in all competitions this season as they take on Levante later this afternoon.

The Catalans are in electric form heading into this game, having netted as many as 22 goals in their first five matches of the season.

However, after a grueling affair against Feyenoord in the Champions League in midweek, Hansi Flick is expected to make some key changes this afternoon.

According to Diario AS, Flick could make as many as five changes to the Barcelona team that started against Feyenoord in midweek.

The most obvious one is Eric Garcia, who was unavailable in midweek due to suspension and will return to right-back this afternoon, at the expense of Jules Kounde.

Xavi Espart is expected to return as well, replacing Joao Cancelo in the left-back position. The youngster will be hoping to continue his excellent momentum in these early parts of the campaign.

There could be one more rotation in defence, with Andreas Christensen potentially making way for Gerard Martin.

Flick, after all, has to take great caution with Christensen given his injury struggles in the recent past. Him resting out this game, therefore, would make a world of sense.

Midfield and attacking changes

While the majority of the changes are expected to take place in defence, Flick could make a few rotation elsewhere as well.

In the midfield, Fermin Lopez is expected to once again start in the attacking midfield role, ahead of Dani Olmo.

The Spanish international has been on fire this season and it will be interesting to see if he can continue his free scoring form.

Speaking of free scoring, Raphinha has bagged eight goals already this season and his partnership will Lamine Yamal will once again be exciting to watch.

Only this time around, they will be partnered by Anthony Gordon instead of Karim Adeyemi, in what is expected to be Flick’s final change from the team that started against Feyenoord.
