Bandits Threaten to Kill Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers in New Captivity Video

Fresh fears have emerged over the safety of dozens of pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area after a new video allegedly released by their captors surfaced online, with the kidnappers threatening to kill the victims if their demands are not met.

The victims were kidnapped on May 15 when armed men stormed three schools in the Ahoro-Esiele/Yawota axis of Oriire LGA, including Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School, abducting dozens of pupils, students and teachers. Reports indicate that 39 students and seven teachers were taken during the coordinated attacks.

The latest video, which has circulated widely on social media, reportedly shows some of the abducted victims in captivity while the gunmen issue fresh threats, warning that the children and teachers could be killed if their conditions are not met.

The development comes days after another disturbing video allegedly showed the killing of an abducted mathematics teacher, identified as Michael Oyedokun, an incident that drew widespread condemnation and renewed calls for urgent action by security agencies.

The abduction has continued to generate outrage across Nigeria, with parents, residents and civil society groups urging the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts and secure the safe release of all those still being held by the kidnappers.
