Baltimore picks Kansas baseball's Dominic Voegele in 2026 MLB Draft

LAWRENCE — Kansas baseball just watched Dominic Voegele be selected No. 82 overall in the 2026 MLB Draft, and he’s the second player from the program to be picked this year.

The Baltimore Orioles picked Voegele, a junior right-handed pitcher for the Jayhawks this past season, in the third round. Voegele has enjoyed a lengthy and successful career at KU the past few years, and this past season helped the program reach a NCAA super regional. That came after the team won the Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament titles, as well as the Lawrence Regional in the NCAA tournament.

Voegele was an All-Big 12 second team, Big 12 all-tournament team and Lawrence Regional all-tournament team selection in 2026. Across his 17 starts on the mound, he had a 5.85 ERA and 6-4 record. He also had 120 strikeouts through 97 innings pitched.

Voegele burst onto the scene as a freshman, and has remained someone who could make the jump to the professional ranks. He was given the chance to compete right away in college, and hasn’t backed down from that challenge. Now, he has the opportunity to see what he can do at the next level.
