Auburn football adds another Maryland blue-chipper to 2027 recruiting class

AUBURN — It turns out Auburn football got a package deal with safety Knyair Crumb‘s commitment earlier this week, as his teammate, James Pace III, announced Friday, June 19, he’d be joining Crumb on the Plains.

A four-star edge rusher, Pace is the 20th addition to Auburn‘s 2027 class, and he’s considered the third-highest-rated player in the bunch, according to 247Sports’ composite ratings. Viewed as a top-100 player nationally by ESPN, Pace — who’s listed at 6-foot-2½ and 225 pounds — finished his 2025 season with 81 tackles, 14 sacks and 10 tackles for loss.

Pace’s addition continues what’s been a considerable tear on the recruiting trail for head coach Alex Golesh and his staff this offseason. Since Auburn’s A-Day scrimmage concluded spring practices on April 18, the program has added 19 commitments to its 2027 class. Those additions have been of quality, with 12 of Auburn’s 20 pledges being blue-chippers. Three are viewed as top-100 players by 247.

With Pace in the fold, Auburn’s class should take a considerable leap, according to 247’s class calculator. The Tigers should squeak just ahead of Texas Tech for the eighth-best recruiting class in the nation, and they’d scoot ahead of Georgia for the fourth-best class in the SEC.
