Atletico Madrid has submitted an offer worth €35 million, including bonuses, for Lille winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo, according to AS, citing L’Équipe.
Lille is considering the proposal before deciding whether to enter negotiations. Atletico’s bid moves the transfer beyond the interest stage, but the French club has not accepted it and there is no reported agreement with Fernandez-Pardo.
The Spanish club has followed the 21-year-old for several transfer windows. Atletico made an attempt to sign him last summer and returned for information in January before submitting its latest proposal.
Fernandez-Pardo is also pushing for a move. He reportedly informed Lille that he wanted to leave after returning from the World Cup, though club president Olivier Letang responded by saying that his departure was not under consideration.
His contract gives Lille room to reject the opening offer. Fernandez-Pardo signed a five-year deal after joining from Gent in August 2024, keeping him at the French club until June 2029.
Lille paid around €10 million for the attacker and could make a substantial profit if it accepts Atletico’s package. The long contract and interest from other European clubs may still encourage Lille to demand more than the €35 million currently offered.
Fernandez-Pardo played 41 matches across all competitions during the 2025/26 season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists. One of his strongest Ligue 1 performances came in the Derby du Nord, when he scored and assisted in Lille’s 3-0 victory over Lens.
The Brussels-born attacker can play on either wing or through the middle. He carries the ball at speed and can move inside from the left onto his stronger right foot, giving Diego Simeone another player capable of changing positions across the front line.
Atletico needs another attacking option after Antoine Griezmann agreed to join Orlando City. Fernandez-Pardo would arrive as a younger and more direct player, though he is still developing the consistency required to become a regular starter at a major La Liga club.
He also represented Belgium at the 2026 World Cup after choosing the country of his birth over Spain. His ability to cover several attacking roles helped him earn a place in the squad despite limited senior international experience.
