Atletico Madrid showing interest in another Arsenal player

Atletico Madrid are on the market for a new striker as it seems they will sell Julian Alvarez before the transfer window closes, and The Sun says one of the strikers on their radar is Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian has struggled to do well at Arsenal in recent seasons, and the Gunners consider him one of the players who should leave this summer. Kai Havertz has started as their main striker, with Viktor Gyokeres the second choice, even though the Swede has struggled for minutes.

This means it is almost certain that Jesus will not play if he stays, so, understandably, he wants to leave. He was in talks with Napoli in recent weeks, but the Italians have not advanced the negotiations just yet and might not sign him.

His options therefore remain open, and Atletico are the latest club to show interest in him. The Spanish side could be forced to sell Alvarez as he continues to miss training in an attempt to force through the transfer, and they could now turn to Jesus as his replacement.

Several strikers are on Atletico’s shopping list during the final days of this transfer window, with Jesus among the players they would like to add to their squad before it closes.

For Jesus, a move to Atletico could provide an opportunity to leave Arsenal and find regular playing time elsewhere. His situation at the Gunners has become increasingly difficult, particularly with Havertz established as their main striker and Gyokeres also ahead of him in the pecking order.

A move could therefore make sense for the Brazilian if Atletico decide to make their interest concrete. The Spanish side needs to prepare for the possibility of Alvarez leaving, and Jesus could offer them an experienced option to strengthen their attack.

For Arsenal, his departure would also remove a player they already consider surplus to requirements. With Napoli yet to advance their negotiations and Atletico now showing interest, Jesus has another possible destination to consider before the window closes.

Much could depend on Alvarez’s situation in the final days of the window. If Atletico do sell him, their need for a replacement could increase their interest in Jesus and give the Brazilian another route out of Arsenal.
