Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has ruled out a summer sale of Julian Alvarez.
The Argentina international has been linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona, while Real Madrid has already seen a huge offer rejected by its city rival.
According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid made a €150 million bid for Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid turned it down. The Spanish capital club has pointed to the forward’s €500m release clause and has made it clear that it does not want to negotiate his departure.
Speaking about the situation, Cerezo was firm on Atletico’s stance.
“Julian Alvarez is not for sale,” the Atletico Madrid president said, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano. “We do not want to sell him.”
Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in 2024 and quickly became one of Diego Simeone’s most important players. The 26-year-old scored 20 goals in 49 appearances last season, and Atletico Madrid has no intention of allowing him to leave after just one campaign at the club.
Barcelona is also believed to be interested, but Cerezo’s comments suggest that any club hoping to sign Alvarez will have to trigger his release clause.
