Atlanta Falcons: Reveal Week 6 Fate of Michael Penix Jr.

Nairavoice · Oct 16, 2026 · 2 min read

The (2-3) Atlanta Falcons host the (3-2) Chicago Bears at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 6 of the regular season. One injury to monitor is Michael Penix Jr., who suffered a rib injury late in the fourth quarter against the Ravens in Week 5. Penix missed one snap before originally returning on that drive. However, he did not play in overtime and was replaced by Tua Tagovailoa, who threw an interception on the second play of that drive. The former first-round pick’s MRI and imaging came back positive, avoiding a major rib injury.

The Atlanta Falcons reveal the Week 6 fate of starting quarterback

Michael Penix Jr. was a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday, an encouraging sign regarding his Week 6 availability. Penix was a full participant Friday, has no official injury designation in the final injury report, and is good to go for Sunday’s game, as reported by Tori McElhaney on the team’s website.

C.J. Henderson has been ruled OUT of Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. Za’Darius Smith is questionable.

@AdamSchefter no designation at all means he’s just playing, which is the most boring good news we’ve gotten in a while. penix and the offense get a normal week vs chicago
