Aston Villa have completed the signings of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma and defender Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid.
Suzuki joins Unai Emery’s side for a fee of around £30m, while Ruggeri arrives in a deal worth approximately £17m.
Suzuki, 24, joins from Serie A and has established himself as one of the most highly rated young goalkeepers in European football.
Ruggeri, meanwhile, is a versatile left-sided defender who can operate as a full-back or wing-back. The 23-year-old joined Atletico Madrid after previously playing for Atalanta in Serie A and now moves to the Premier League.
The two additions take Villa’s summer spending to another level as they look to improve on last season and challenge for major honours.
Villa have also agreed a deal to sign right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy him if certain conditions are met.
Emery is also keen to bring in more signings to the club, with more departures also likely too.
