As reported TUTTOmercatoWEB, Udiense midfielder Arthur Atta is subject to interest from Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old had been subject to strong interest from Inter, but things have cooled down on that front. Newcastle United are another side from the Premier League the Frenchman has been linked with in recent weeks by Italian outlets.
Having arrived in Udine from French side Metz two summers ago, Atta has firmly established himself as a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Friulani.
Currently valued by Transfermarkt at €25 million, Atta has four months years remaining on his contract with Udinese, which fetches him a gross annual salary of €560,000.
Ball’s in Newcastle’s court
If the Magpies are to avoid a summer window last the one they had last year, where they ended up overpaying for secondary targets after missing out on their first-choice picks, they need to move quickly.
Their need is obvious: Sandro Tonali has moved to Spurs and Bruno Guimarães may also leave this summer. With no European football to offer their targets, Newcastle have very little wiggle room. In contrast, Aston Villa under Unai Emery have recently ended their trophy drought with a European title and will be in the Champions League this season; if they make a concrete offer first, the Tyneside outfit may not be able to counter with an non-refusebale offer.
