Arsenal rebuffed after enquiring about Bournemouth’s Alex Scott

Arsenal have seen an approach for Bournemouth‘s Alex Scott knocked back, with the Cherries making it clear he is not available for transfer this summer, according to the BBC.

The Premier League champions are in the market for a new central midfielder ahead of the new campaign and have identified Scott as a target.

However, Bournemouth have wasted little time in shutting down Arsenal’s initial enquiry, insisting the 22-year-old remains a key part of their long-term plans.

The south coast club are determined to keep hold of the former Bristol City star.

Instead, they are looking to reward him with a new contract, despite his current deal still having two years remaining.

Scott has developed into one of the most highly rated young midfielders around since arriving at Bournemouth, and his performances have attracted widespread attention.

Arsenal are not alone in the race to sign Scott, with several top-flight rivals also tracking his progress.

But Bournemouth’s stance on the England international will force Mikel Arteta’s side to look elsewhere.

Strengthening the engine room remains a priority for Arsenal as they continue preparing their squad for another title defence and a renewed push in Europe.

Scott’s blend of technical quality, ball-carrying ability and tactical intelligence made him an attractive profile, particularly given his age and room for further development.

Newcastle United duo Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali are two options the North Londoners considered.
