Arsenal took another giant leap towards clinching this season’s Premier League crown as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Burnley at the Emirates on Monday night.

While Mikel Arteta’s side might have failed to find their clinical best in north London, Kai Havertz’s header late in the first-half proved to be enough to move Arsenal within touching distance of a first domestic title in over two decades.

Victory on Monday night has briefly moved the Gunners five points clear at the top of the table and they can officially be crowned as Premier League champions if Manchester City fail to secure all three points away at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Certainly bouncing back from their brief April blip and now on the cusp of shattering plenty of records, Arsenal have won all of their previous four consecutive appearances across all competitions and will have one eye on next week’s Champions League final.

Arsenal on the cusp of history

While Arsenal might not have been at their free-flowing best on Monday night, the Gunners took another giant leap towards getting their hands on a first Premier League crown since way back in 2004.

Roaring back since their brief blip last month and now firmly on the cusp of history, Arteta’s side have now won all of their previous four appearances across all competitions.

Punching their spot in the final of this season’s Champions League earlier in the month as they clinched a nervy 2-1 aggregate win against Atletico Madrid, Arsenal’s date with destiny is fast approaching on the horizon.

Knowing that they can officially be crowned as Premier League champions on Tuesday night ahead of Manchester City’s trip to a high-flying Bournemouth, Arsenal are on the verge of an iconic double-winning campaign.

Travelling to the Puskas Arena next week when they meet reigning European champions and French giants PSG, the Gunners have also refound their defensive grit and have now recorded four consecutive clean sheets across all fronts.

Resilience not enough for Burnley

While Burnley might have travelled to north London on Monday night more than aware that they faced a monumental challenge against an Arsenal squad who are set to be crowned Premier League champions, the Clarets certainly produced a gutsy display.

Staying in the game for large spells and causing Arsenal some real frustrations, the Clarets would have been glad to hand their travelling supporters some kind of boost.

However, with yet another immediate Championship return confirmed with plenty of time to spare, it has been another top-flight campaign to forget for the Lancashire-based outfit.

Officially parting ways with Scott Parker last month just days after their relegation was made official, Burnley have collected just a single point from any of their previous seven consecutive Premier League appearances.

Likewise, along with watching their FA Cup come to a shock end at the hands of League Two outfit Mansfield back in February, Monday’s guests have put just a single top-flight victory on the board since October 26th.

All eyes fall on the Vitality

Getting the job done on Monday night and dragging themselves to what was a hard-fought victory in north London, all of Arsenal’s attention will not fall on the Vitality on Tuesday night.

While Manchester City might travel to European chasers Bournemouth 24 hours later, the Sky Blues have been hit with the blockbuster news that Pep Guardiola will be leaving the club this weekend.

Facing what is a real must-win showdown as they meet a Bournemouth squad who have suffered just a single Premier League defeat so far this calendar year, City’s title dreams are now hanging by a thread.

Although Man City might have continued to shine on either side of March’s international break, Guardiola’s side know that even a single point might not be enough when his superstar squad travel to the Etihad on Tuesday.

With news breaking during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory that their talismanic Spanish boss has officially decided to draw a line under his iconic 10-year spell at the Etihad, it will be interesting to see where City are mentally on the south coast.
