Arch Manning wanted redemption against Ohio State, and he got it

It’s no secret that Texas quarterback Arch Manning really struggled against Ohio State to open the 2025 college football season.

Manning finished the game with 170 yards through the air, one touchdown, and one interception in a 14-7 loss. Ohio State’s defense flustered him and made him feel super uncomfortable in the pocket.

It’s a game that Manning doesn’t like to reminisce on.

“Not a lot of good memories a year ago,” Manning told ESPN’s Dave Wilson this week.

He wanted to get some payback for that game on Saturday when Texas played host to Ohio State, and he delivered in a major way. Down 23-3 after three quarters, he was electric in the fourth quarter, leading Texas on three touchdown drives, including the game-winner to make it 24-23 with 25 seconds left.

He finished the game-winning drive completing 4-of-5 passes for 48 yards and finished the fourth quarter with 91 passing yards and one touchdown.

Manning was in a rhythm and was especially great on some big fourth downs. He hit some big throws to extend drives and finished the game with 196 yards through the air, one touchdown, and one interception.

The Longhorns are now 2-0 after that win and will have a ton of confidence going into their SEC schedule after beating the No. 1 team in the country. Manning will especially have more confidence after leading that 20-point comeback.

It’s going to be quite the scene in Austin for the rest of the night.
