APC explains ex-Gov Badaru’s absence from campaign council list

· · 1 min read

‎The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Jigawa State has clarified why former Governor and ex-Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, was left out of its recently constituted governorship campaign council.

‎The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, explained the party’s position while responding to questions from journalists over the former governor’s absence from the list.

‎Dangyatin said Badaru was not included because of his wider political responsibilities at the national level ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎He explained that assigning him to the state campaign council could restrict his involvement in coordinating the party’s activities across the country.

‎”Including the former governor in the governorship campaign council is like tying him down and restricting him from contributing to the party’s victory,” Dangyatin said.

‎

‎The Speaker noted that Badaru currently serves as the Director-General of Arewa for Asiwaju, a position that requires him to coordinate political activities across the northern region and the country.

‎

‎”The former governor is the Director-General of Arewa for Asiwaju. He is dealing with the entire region and the country,” he stated.

‎

‎Dangyatin also dismissed suggestions that Badaru’s omission was connected to internal disagreements or divisions within the Jigawa APC.

‎

‎He insisted that there was no rift between the former governor and the party, maintaining that the APC remained united in the state.

‎

‎The Speaker urged party members and supporters to disregard rumours surrounding the development and concentrate on mobilising support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
