Alexander Isak equals impressive Liverpool feat that stood for 15 years

This season is already proving to be the story of Alexander Isak’s comeback.

Liverpool’s record signing has banished a debut campaign which began with his hefty price tag, a stuttering start and injury woes that put the heat firmly on him this term.

But Isak has already matched his tally of three Premier League goals from his opening 12 months at Anfield after netting twice early in the Reds’ encounter at Ipswich Town.

Linking up with a resurgent Cody Gakpo on both occasions, the Sweden international made short work of it by recording a brace inside just nine minutes at Portman Road.

He also shares a slice of history for Andoni Iraola’s side with their earliest two-goal haul in the Premier League era since Maxi Rodríguez punished Fulham in May 2011.

The Argentine winger became a genuine cult hero in his time with the Reds and Isak will be hoping his own efforts will earn a similar adulation from supporters very soon.
