Alabama football 5-star defensive back out with injury, per reports

Alabama football is down a defensive back halfway through fall camp.

Jorden Edmonds, a freshman five-star defensive back, will be out with a lower-body injury for a few weeks, per a report from 247Sports.

Edmonds was the No. 29 player in the 2026 recruiting class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He was the fifth-ranked cornerback and one of four five-star signees in the Crimson Tide‘s second-ranked recruiting class.

Alabama wide receivers Lotzeir Brooks and Noah Rogers and running back EJ Crowell missed the Crimson Tide’s first fall scrimmage Thursday, Aug. 13. Running back AK Dear suffered an injury during the scrimmage.

Behind starters Zabien Brown and Dijon Lee Jr., players like Mercer transfer Carmelo O’Neal have really pushed forward for playing time.

“Melo has just, he’s dove in,” Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said. “He’s got a professional mindset. He works at it every day. He’s very coachable. He’s just made huge strides in the last eight months.”
