“Agreed all terms” – Fabrizio Romano drops Saturday afternoon bombshell for Liverpool transfer target

PSG have “agreed all terms” with Ferran Torres over a potential summer transfer to Ligue 1.

Fabrizio Romano reports on X (formerly Twitter) that the Champions League holders have now entered club-to-club negotiations with Barcelona over a transfer fee.

There is a world in which the Reds moving for Torres this summer would have made a world of sense.

However, with PSG’s interest becoming apparent, coupled with an impressive showing at the World Cup, it seems unlikely that Andoni Iraola‘s men were ever going to look at the winger as a viable market opportunity as they might have before the opening of the summer window.

More to the point, with a genuine market opportunity available in the form of PSG’s Mbaye – who could be secured for a paltry €50m [£42.8m] – it makes a certain amount of sense why Liverpool are keeping their powder dry.

Only, of course, if we do actually manage to complete the two deals in question.

The only downside with pursuing the Senegal international is that we’re getting a far less polished winger option.

Mind, from those stats alone, you could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion that Ibrahim Mbaye is no slouch either in the modern game.

And, ultimately, we are talking about an 18-year-old who has already had 15 senior starts (across all competitions) for this PSG side under Luis Enrique.

Ideally, it would be more. But we’re not opposed to bringing a more senior option like Bradley Barcola to help replace a chunk of the stardust lost with Mo Salah‘s departure, in addition to another exciting project in Mbaye.

Plus, if we’re looking to sign both wingers from PSG, it probably works in our favour to not obstruct the French giants’ other business in the market.
