I took my first cruise as a toddler, and after 58 sailings, I’ve watched the onboard experience change significantly.
Gone are the days of midnight buffets and endless lobster nights in the dining room.
Although cruise fares are still largely inclusive, it’s easy to feel nickel-and-dimed once you’re on board.
From specialty restaurants to drink packages, spa treatments, and professional photos, the cost of your cruise can climb quickly after embarkation.
I’m still happy to splurge on certain add-ons that enhance my cruise experience.
For instance, I won’t hesitate to pay for a memorable specialty dining meal or upgrade to a balcony cabin on a scenic itinerary.
But after 26 years of cruising, I’ve also learned that some add-ons are rarely worth the money.
Regardless of the ship, itinerary, or cruise line, these are the onboard extras that I never waste my money on.
