AFCON 2027Q: Mahamat appointed referee for Super Eagles-Madagascar clash

Chadian referee, Alhadji Allaou Mahamat will take charge of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Matchday 1 encounter between the Super Eagles and Madagascar’s Barea.

Mahamat is one of the highly respected referees in Africa.

The 40-year-old has officiated in several CAF competitions, including the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and African Nations Championship.

DAILY POST recalls that Mahamat officiated two Super Eagles matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He was at the centre when Nigeria hosted the Wasps of Rwanda and also officiated the away fixture against Lesotho in South Africa.

Nigeria won both games 1-0 and 2-1, respectively.

The Super Eagles will host Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.
