Adamawa Assembly passes bill on gratuity, death benefits for emirs, chiefs

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a bill to provide gratuity and death benefits for emirs and chiefs.

The passage of the bill, which seeks to amend the Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) (Amendment) Law, 2024, followed the consideration and adoption of a report.

The report on the amended bill was earlier presented by the House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, headed by Kefas Calvin of Toungo Constituency.

During the passage of the bill at Monday’s sitting of the Assembly, Calvin appreciated Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for sponsoring the bill.

Following contributions from some members during the day’s plenary, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Kate Raymond Mamuno of Demsa Constituency, moved for the passage of the bill. The motion was seconded by Musa Mahmud Kallamu of Mayo Belwa Constituency.
