Adam Vinatieri was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

He split time during his career between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, but he honored the latter in a unique way during his enshrinement speech.

Current Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon presented Vinatieri with a blue tie with gray stripes before his speech, per NFL Network’s Steve Wyche. The tie belonged to her father, the late Jim Irsay.

Vinatieri kicked for the Colts from 2006 to 2019, helping the franchise win the 2007 Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears.

Irsay owned the franchise from 1997 to 2025. He passed away in May 2025 following a cardiac arrest that was complicated by pneumonia. Indianapolis wore patches honoring the late Irsay throughout the 2025 season.

Each Hall of Fame inductee is allowed to choose their presenter, who will give a speech about them before revealing their Hall of Fame bust and then giving a speech of their own. Irsay-Gordon was picked by the kicker to present and induct him into the Hall of Fame.

Each inductee is also surprised by the announcement of their induction, a tradition that has become a fan-favorite.

Vinatieri returned the favor, surprising Irsay-Gordon in her office to ask her to induct him. He began by thanking her and her family for everything they have done for him over the years. The kicker said he would be “super, super honored” if she would present him.

Irsay-Gordon couldn’t believe that she was getting picked. “Me? What? I would be honored to do that. That means so much that you want me to do that.”

The gift of the tie was the perfect way to bring Vinatieri’s induction all together so that he and Irsay were honored.
