Mason will need to guard against a potential letdown. Bell isn’t the opponent Mason prepared for as he is a late replacement for Joe Cordina. Mason can’t take Bell lightly. He can’t just win; he has to do it impressively.

A statement win keeps the 22-year-old on track toward unification talks in a lightweight division stacked with belt-holders. For Bell, 33 and called up on short notice after Cordina’s visa denial, an upset would rewrite a career the rankings had all but buried.
