Aaron Rodgers’ ruthless response to media about Steelers teammate’s ranking in crucial NFL stat
Aaron Rodgers couldn’t care less about his teammate being ranked No. 2 in NFL targets.
Pittsburgh Steelers star Aaron Rodgers began his final season in the NFL with a 20-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
While on his farewell tour, Rodgers isn’t worried about the finer details of the game, as he recently gave an irate response about his teammate Roman Wilson’s ranking on the NFL’s targets list.
Aaron Rodgers says he doesn’t care about Roman Wilson’s No. 2 ranking in targets
After Week 1 action, WR Wilson is currently ranked No. 2 in the entire NFL in targets. Of course, as a QB, the media wanted to get Rodgers’ reaction to it.
However, it was far from what one might have expected, as the veteran QB snapped at the media for caring about such stats.
“I don’t give a s__ about the target list. The ball goes to the open guy … nobody in the locker room talks about their targets. That’s for you guys to talk about,” Rodgers explained, per Ari Meirov on X.
While Rodgers can make his pick for the open guy on the field, the Steelers’ offense was far from elite during the season opener.
The 42-year-old QB struggled to get the offense running with just 4.1 yards per play. He also converted just three out of 13 opportunities on third down.
If the Steelers want to extend their winning streak, maybe picking a guy who is second on the NFL target list will be an apt strategy? But that’s for Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy to decide.
