The New York Yankees have been playing Aaron Judge cautiously since his return from a three-month-long stint on the injured list for a rib issue.

Since his return, he’s hit a home run and played in six different games so far. But in the seventh game since his return, the Yankees got a bit of a worrying update as he left the game early on September 15.

Not too long later, The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty revealed why Judge left the game early. Unfortunately, Judge is dealing with a new injury issue, as he didn’t leave the game early due to a rib problem, like the one that kept him out for so long this season.

“Aaron Judge left the game with lower right leg tightness, Yankees say,” Kuty reported on the superstar outfielder.

This report from Kuty is a bit more worrying than if it were planned maintenance with his rib issue that kept him out for much of the season.

Instead, it’s a new leg injury that’s forcing him to sit in the middle of the game. He was lifted in the sixth inning with the Yankees down 2-0 to the Minnesota Twins.

In normal circumstances, however, there would be full-blown panic if Judge were pulled in the middle of a game due to an injury.

While this is still something to worry about, since he’s coming back from a lengthy stay on the injured list and Aaron Boone and the Yankees might just be being extra cautious, it’s too soon to panic.

But seeing Judge pulled in the middle of a game is still something to be a bit worried about. He might not actually be dealing with an injury that will keep him out for a while, but this is something to monitor going forward, as Judge’s right leg might be a problem.
