Knicks speak after incredible Game 4 comeback
If the ratings have been phenomenal so far for the NBA Finals, the numbers for this one might defy superlatives.
Trailing by as much as 29 points at one point and by 20 in fourth quarter, the New York Knicks pulled off the greatest comeback game in NBA Finals history at Madison Square Garden to take a 3-1 game lead in the series.
“A miracle comeback!” shouted ABC play-by-play announced Mike Breen after time ran out. “Nicks pull off largest comeback in NBA Finals history!”
What’s more, should the Knicks win the series, it would mark a possibly even more improbable comeback: The Knicks first NBA Championship in 53 years.
The play that capped the comeback began with New York‘s floor captain Jalen Brunson bringing the ball up the court trailing by one point. Brunson, the team’s leading scorer, pulled up with about 5 seconds left to take a 3-point shot which hit the front of the rim and careened off. From nowhere, came Knicks’ forward OG Anunoby flying past San Antonio‘s 7’5″ center Victor Wembanyama to tip the ball in with just 1.2 seconds left.
