A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Officially Returns December 16

After HBO’s divisive House of the Dragon adaptation, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms feels like exactly the change of pace George R.R. Martin’s fantasy universe needed. Based on his beloved Dunk and Egg novellas, the series shifts focus off of dragons and political intrigue to a more intimate journey across Westeros, offering fans a refreshing perspective on the world they’ve come to know and love.

For longtime A Song of Ice and Fire readers, there’s something especially satisfying about seeing this corner of Martin’s universe finally receive its own live-action adaptation. The stories of Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, Egg, have always stood apart from the main series, exploring the everyday lives, traditions, and struggles of Westeros through the eyes of characters far removed from the usual political elite.

In many ways, the show’s smaller scale feels like a welcome return to what made Game of Thrones so compelling in the first place, with richly developed characters, unpredictable encounters, and a world that feels genuinely lived in. Fortunately, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is returning this December with a brand-new release (via SFHobby).

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans have a major release to look forward to before the end of 2026, with Rittenhouse Archives officially launching its Season One Trading Card collection on December 16, 2026. The upcoming set celebrates HBO’s acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel, featuring collectible cards highlighting the characters, memorable moments, and performances that made Dunk and Egg’s first adventure together so compelling.

According to the official Rittenhouse Archives listing, the collection features a 46-card base set, comprising 18 episode cards (three for each of Season 1’s six episodes) and 28 character cards. However, there are plenty of additional collectibles to chase, including several limited-edition variants and specialty inserts.

  • 46 Gold Parallel Cards and 46 Red Parallel Cards, with the latter individually numbered to 50.
  • 8 “Nicknames” Cards, celebrating the characters’ distinctive identities.
  • 14 “Dunk’s Relationships” Cards, exploring the hedge knight’s connections.
  • 27 “Quotable” Cards, featuring memorable dialogue.
  • 18 “Trial of Seven” Puzzle Cards, commemorating the season’s climactic confrontation.
  • 18 JJ Lendl Episode Poster Cards, alongside 18 artist-signed versions individually numbered to 25.

Probably the best part of the new set, however, is the collection’s assortment of autographed cards, with three included in every box. These feature genuine on-card signatures from the show’s cast, with a partial list of confirmed signers including Peter Claffey (Dunk), Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg), Finn Bennett (Aerion Targaryen), Daniel Ings (Lyonel Baratheon), Sam Spruell (Maekar Targaryen), and Danny Webb (Ser Arlan of Pennytree).

There’s also the “A Tall Tale That Became a Legend” case-topper card, while an exclusive 10-case incentive box features additional autograph cards, printing plates, and other collectibles. Individual boxes are currently listed at $199.99, while a companion binder costs $29.99. Rittenhouse notes that the collection’s contents are still subject to change.

Of course, fans won’t have to wait much longer for Dunk and Egg’s next televised adventure, either. HBO has already confirmed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will arrive during the first half of 2027, although an exact premiere date hasn’t been announced. The next season will adapt George R.R. Martin’s second Dunk and Egg novella, The Sworn Sword, continuing the unlikely duo’s adventures across Westeros.
