A.J. Brown makes admission on ankle injury ahead of game vs. Dolphins
New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown still isn’t 100 percent healed from the high ankle sprain that he suffered in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
When speaking with reporters on Wednesday, the three-time All-Pro admitted that he is still “pushing through” the injury, but he wouldn’t make excuses for his disappointing performances. He only caught three passes for 27 yards against the New York Jets, and last week, he was held to just three catches for 48 yards.
The star receiver hasn’t exactly been lighting the world on fire since arriving in New England, but it hasn’t helped that he has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury.
“Yeah, sometimes, you know, I see it, and sometimes, I’m pushing through,” Brown told media members. “But none of that stuff even matters. I’m out here, so I’m going.”
It’s important to note that Brown popped up on the injury report on Wednesday as limited at practice with an ankle injury. He also wasn’t spotted during the media portion of Thursday’s practice. It creates real concern that Brown might have suffered a setback with the injury, or perhaps the team is simply erring on the side of caution and giving him a day off.
All eyes will be on Friday’s final injury report to reveal Brown’s official game status.
