The Philadelphia 76ers are set to welcome the Detroit Pistons into the Xfinity Mobile Arena on Sunday night, with the match coming on the second night of a back-to-back, following their win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. While things have been smooth sailing for Philadelphia, Sunday night could prove to be their most difficult match yet, and that isn’t just because they’re playing the Pistons, but because of some of the names out.
To boot, the Sixers were already going to be without Joel Embiid, who is set to miss out on the action against Detroit as part of some planned injury management. This will leave Nick Nurse with some clever solutions to fill in the shoes of the former MVP, but he and the Sixers were faced with another injury worry ahead of tip-off: V.J. Edgecombe.
A few hours ahead of tip-off, the Sixers downgraded the second-year guard due to an abdominal contusion. According to the aforementioned Nurse, Edgecombe suffered the contusion during Saturday night’s match and is still feeling rather sore the day after.

Yet, despite being questionable ahead of the match, it appears that the Sixers have made up their minds regarding Edgecombe’s availability for the Pistons match; he won’t be suiting up.
This absence will leave Nurse with quite the hole to fill given the productivity that Edgecombe has provided across the Sixers’ opening three games, averaging 12.3 points and eight rebounds in that time frame.
Tip-off between Philadelphia and Detroit is slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
