49ers OL pushing for starting job quickly ruled out with injury
The San Francisco 49ers offensive line depth took a hit Thursday night when offensive lineman Austen Pleasants went down with an apparent knee injury midway through the third quarter.
Pleasants was pushed backward while engaged in a block and then reached for his right knee. He was holding his right knee while on the ground being attended to by trainers.
The veteran offensive lineman quickly entered the medical tent on the sidelines and was almost immediately ruled out. Being immediately ruled out instead of getting listed as questionable isn’t a good sign for the nature of the injury. We should get more information from head coach Kyle Shanahan after the game, but the team may also wait to get imaging on Pleasants before making any decisions on him.
Pleasants on Thursday entered the mix for left guard. Rookie carver Willis started the game, but it was Pleasants who got the first opportunities when Willis went to the sideline. Willis was first in line after Pleasants went out.
