The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with a litany of injuries again this season, with one of the most pressing issues in their wide receiver room.

Demarcus Robinson is out for a while, with Ricky Pearsall done for the season, Christian Kirk on injured reserve, and De’Zhuan Stribling out for 10 weeks. Now, Mike Evans is banged up, giving the 49ers cause for concern with their WR room.

However, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the 49ers got some good news on Evans, as the star No. 1 WR is looking likely to play this week despite dealing with a hip issue.

49ers have a ‘good chance’ Mike Evans is active Week 3

“This is another one that does not seem to be major,” Rapoport reports. “He [didn’t] practice yesterday, but good chance he practices this week and goes.”

This update from Rapoport is a great sign that the 49ers are going to have their No. 1 WR for Brock Purdy in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.

While the 49ers would likely be fine without Evans against a weaker Cardinals team, having him ready would ease many concerns about this offense’s ability to stay healthy.

Having Evans good to go for Week 3 is especially important, as if he were to miss time, even if only a week, that’d leave Deebo Samuel, Jacob Cowing, Jordan Watkins, and Khadarel Hodge as the only viable WRs for the 49ers.

They cannot afford to lose Evans on top of their other injury issues this season. Fortunately, it seems likely that Evans will be good to go for Week 3 based on this report from Rapoport.

In this favorable matchup against the Cardinals, Evans will look to add to his season totals of nine catches for 103 yards and one touchdown on 10 targets.

So far, it’s not been a bad start, though it’s been a little underwhelming considering the 49ers have dealt with so many injuries to the WR room already this season.

Still, there’s plenty of season left, and Evans being good to go, as this report indicates, is some great news for the 49ers entering Week 3.
