Moving on to Maxx Crosby for the Las Vegas Raiders still seems like an interesting decision that wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
At 3-2, the Raiders have definitely played better football than most imagined entering the year. However, they’re also losers of two straight, and the Kansas City Chiefs look to be absolutely unstoppable in the AFC West once again.
Factor in the Raiders having to play the Chiefs again and the Denver Broncos twice for the rest of the season, and there’s a strong chance Vegas won’t be in a position to make the playoffs.
Now, other teams could benefit from the Raiders, even if they’re not a playoff team, including the New England Patriots.
Head coach Mike Vrabel has said in the past that he’d love to add another edge rusher, as a defensive-minded head coach who would do a lot of good with a guy like Crosby.
According to the latest report, teams are still interested in trading for him, according to the San Francisco 49ers beat writer for Sports Illustrated.
“They sat and watched as the Rams traded for the best defensive player in the NFL, Myles Garrett,” Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated said of the 49ers.
“But according to a source, they’re one of several teams still interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.”
Cohn didn’t go into much detail about the other teams interested besides the 49ers.
There figures to be a wide range of suitors for Crosby if he does get traded. After a failed offseason trade to the Baltimore Ravens, perhaps that’s something that gets explored once again this year at the trade deadline.
If it does, the Patriots at least need to make some calls to see what the price would be.
