4-star PF Brandon Woodard schedules official visit to Rutgers

Brandon Woodard, a four-star power forward in the 2027 class, has scheduled his first official visit. The 6-foot-9 rising senior out of Bishop McNamara (MD) is set to see Rutgers the weekend on September 19th.

Woodard received an offer from the Scarlet Knights last summer, when he unofficially visited campus.

“They had Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey there, and they both are in the league,” Woodard told Rivals in a previous interview. “They like my overall game and how I play, how athletic I am. They tell me that they are going to give me what I need to get to the next level.”

He is ranked as the No. 74 overall nationally, the No. 8 power forward, and the No. 2 player in Maryland, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).

In addition to Rutgers, Woodard has taken unofficial visits to VCU and Georgetown. Schools such as Virginia Tech, Villanova, Memphis, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, Providence, and more have extended offers.

In a previous interview with Rivals’ Jamie Shaw, Brandon Woodard discussed what his is looking for in his future college program.

“I want to go play for a coach that I know is going to be able to get me to the next level,” Woodard said. “Someone who will keep it one hundred with me at all times, and hold me accountable.”

Brandon Woodard is a pogo stick of an athlete. The 6-foot-9 forward plays high above the rim with all kinds of pop. He needs others to create for him, or for himself to go and get it off the rim, but when the motor is hot, there is a good bit of production involved. He brought an intriguing defensive presence to his first game on Saturday. Woodard was aggressive in the passing lanes and rotated down a lineup relatively well for some weak side rim protection. The traditional skill set is not there, but a skill set as a small ball five who affects the game at the rim, is pretty intriguing.
