The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that the 2027 general elections will be decided by Nigerians and not billionaires.
Makinde made the assertion on Wednesday at the unveiling of his Reset Nigeria Agenda manifesto in Abuja.
He said that the Reset Nigeria Agenda is built on four pillars – resetting the economy, restructuring security architecture, reforming education and resetting the socio-political system.
Speaking on the economy, Makinde said he will not tax poverty but prosperity, adding that what Nigerians need is to reduce cost of living and cost of doing business.
“This 2027 election will not be determined by how many billions you have. This election will be determined by the people of Nigeria. We must make life easy for our people. You tax prosperity, you don’t tax poverty,” he said.
On fuel price, Makinde said he will not return the subsidy but will price crude for Nigerian refineries in Naira, not in dollars, adding that Nigerians must see how fuel price is formed from production to pump.
Makinde, speaking on security, said he will reset the security architecture so businesses will not close by 8pm because of fear.
