The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, presidential running mate and former Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Lawal Daura, on Wednesday disclosed that God made him and the party’s flagbearer, Seyi Makinde, to click.

Daura disclosed this while harping on the need for Nigeria to have a constitutional conference that would address all the country’s problems.

Speaking during the unveiling of the party’s 2027 manifesto in Abuja, Daura stressed the need to have a transitional government.

He said, “The first government that we are going to establish is a transitional one, transitional in the sense that we come together, discuss and agree.

“After independence we had constitutional conferences or national conferences, maybe about three or four and up till now, we have not been able to find a way resolve Nigeria’s contradictions. And in the wisdom of Makinde and myself, don’t forget that he was thinking separately and I was thinking separately but God in his mercies made the two of us to click.

“And we agreed on one thing, that if we really want to resolve the impediment of finding a way out of the problem, we need to bring all Nigerians together, this time around, form a government and bring everybody into that government. Let us discuss and the conversation will be more effective and the communication will have more finality.

“And when that is done, we will agree on how we want Nigeria to go and that is why we call the first government that we are going to establish by the grace of God in 2027 a transitional one. Transitional in the sense that we may come together and discuss but can disagree and get to a point where we make a common resolve.

“Definitely, it’s not going to be full of contradictions, but it will run smoothly because it’s by common understanding and agreement that Nigerians want to address all these problems.”
