The All progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Council has said criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will not weaken his political support base in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, stated this on Tuesday while reacting to criticism from opposition groups, insisting that the President’s supporters in the region remained committed to his re-election.
He maintained that there was no reason for Tinubu’s supporters to panic or retreat, stressing that opposition attacks would not change their determination to vote for the President.
”There is no panic and no going back in our support for Tinubu. The criticisms coming from the opposition will not stop us from voting for him in the North,” he said.
The APC chieftain described the opposition’s criticism as part of political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections, arguing that such attacks could not erase what he described as the President’s growing support across the region.
He said northern voters were more concerned about issues affecting their daily lives, including economic recovery, security, infrastructure development, employment and national stability.
”The policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration since assuming office had continued to strengthen confidence among its supporters,” he said.
Kwankwaso added that supporters of the President would intensify grassroots mobilisation across northern communities to explain government policies and highlight the administration’s achievements.
He urged APC members not to be distracted by opposition criticism but to concentrate on strengthening party structures, maintaining regular contact with voters and seeking their support ahead of the elections.
