11 movie sequels nobody wanted and 9 we desperately need
When Pixar’s latest film, “Toy Story 5,” was released on June 19, it broke the franchise’s record for highest-grossing opening weekend with $160 million domestically and had the second-highest opening weekend for an animated film, only behind “Incredibles 2.” Whether or not you think we needed “Toy Story 5” is a different matter.
You could argue that we should’ve left our friends Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the crew behind with 2010’s “Toy Story 3,” which is probably one of the greatest conclusions to a trilogy, period.
That’s not to say we don’t love Forky and “Toy Story 4,” but was it necessary?
Sometimes, sequels are made that absolutely no one cares about, while box-office smashes never get the chance to continue their stories.
Here are some of the worst sequels we’ve seen, and some sequels we’re still waiting for.
